I’ve started actually making decent money from shoots and content, and the tax side is a complete blank to me. Do BDSM models pay tax on this, cash included? What do people genuinely do to stay on the right side of it?

Yeah. In most places modeling counts as self-employment income and it's taxable whether it lands as cash, a bank transfer, or a platform payout. In practice: register as self-employed if your country makes you, keep a plain log of every payment and every expense, and hold back somewhere around 25 to 30 percent so tax season doesn't blindside you. Usual caveat, this is general info and not proper advice. An accountant who's handled adult-industry clients before is worth every penny.

— Ask what the studio supplies.

Start tracking your deductibles from day one. Wardrobe, travel, gear, studio hire, a slice of your home costs if you shoot from there. It genuinely brings the bill down. And run a separate bank account for the work side, it makes the whole year-end thing painless.

— Bring a shot list, leave with a portfolio.
